Spaz's personal Travel Journal...
Where no Sandbox is sacred, no bug un-bitten, and all that happens is reported...

Spaz has asked me to help him keep his journal organized. When he does decide to make an entry, and who knows when that'll be, I'll go ahead and fill in some perfunctory details that I'm sure have nothing to do with Spaz's sandbox, but that may be interesting to the reader, particularly those interested in traveling to these regions. Look for these details under the below links to help fill in the blanks.

CHINA

Nanning 南宁
When we finally arrived in Nanning, we had to buy tickets to Hanoi. The ticket line at window 16 opened at 6:30 in the morning, and hard sleepers cost 316 元 each. The train doesn't go every day, so we leave tomorrow (Saturday) and depart at 7:20 at night. Then, after the next leg was planned, then we had to pick a hotel to stay in. Right next to the train station are a couple of nice options. The first we tried was on the same side of the street as the train station. They had doubles with shared bathroom in the basement for 50元 a night, or doubles with a private bathroom for 170 元. Across the street at the Ying Bin Fan Dian (迎宾饭店) we were able to negotiate a deal for 80元 a night for a double with private bath, but the AC was not turned on.... For 180元 it would've been possible to hook up with a room with AC and internet right in the room. What a luxury. There is also a private 'business office' downstairs offering the first hour of online access free and 4 元 an hour after that. I was also allowed a drop for my laptop so I could upload...

Hanoi
Spaz complained and complained and went around with us to all the different places, but we never let him out of his bag. It just didn't seem appropriate to pull Spaz out during the Buddhist chanting at the temples, or they took our bag away like when we went to see Ho Chi Minh's body. Anyway, Spaz finally got his way today, and we got to have Spaz along with us while we did our normal stuff for the day...

Ha Long Bay
Beautiful boat trip through beautiful islands on beautiful water.

Hue
Spaz exaggerates the smell for comedic effect. The water was quite clean, actually...

My Son Temple
I never knew Spaz was such an archaeological fan! Must be his propensity for digging...

Nha Trang
Spaz likes beaches and 'see food' and being the popular cat on the block. He likes the super large sandbox, he LOVES the food so much that he eats everything he sees, and everybody thinks he's just the most beautiful example of plush cat they've ever seen... so much for taste, huh? ;-)

Cambodia

Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, and surrounding...
When we first proposed bringing Spaz on this journey with us, this is exactly what we had in mind for him.  The picture in front of Angkor Wat is the one.  It's nice to bring what was in the mind's eye to fruition....
